Hello! I’m Andrew.

I’m a small business operator, occasional writer, and Excel fanboy. I love steak, wine, football, and reading.

I try to live by the advice of legendary investor and billionaire Charlie Munger, who said:

"I constantly see people rise in life who are not the smartest, sometimes not even the most diligent, but they are learning machines. They go to bed every night a little wiser than they were when they got up, and boy, does that help, particularly when you have a long run ahead of you."

I want to be a learning machine, and I want to go to bed every night a little bit healthier, wealthier and wiser than when I woke up in the morning. I trust that over time, those small gains will compound into a good life.

These are the most popular posts I've written in the past ten years:

For a full list of everything I've ever written, you can click here.

I’ll be writing essays on an intermittent schedule, broadly around these themes:

  • Buying, running, and scaling small companies

  • Becoming the most effective individual and leader you can be

  • Doing the above while staying, healthy, happy, and finding meaning in your work

If that’s your jam, great! You’re in the right place.

I’ve also done a few twitter threads on similar topics that I plan on turning into full essays — you can check out the twitter thread versions here:
